Illuminated Forest creates around itself a quiet mesmerising space: The cyclical nature of the changing light combined with the minute detail of the images invoke a state of being suggestive of how we really experience the landscape and the forest: A rare, tender, lonesome, oddly suspended state at the bounds of articulation - a waking dream of a place known then lost. An experience for which there is no adequate expression in the English language: Approximated by “yearning” or “longing”, but perhaps more poetically conjured by the Portugese word “saudade”, the German “sehnsucht”, or the Japanese concept of “mono no aware”.
